ICAR-Mizoram Centre successfully conducts three day’s training programme on “Sensitizing farmer’s concept to increase crop productivity under changing climate” under NICRA.
A training programme on “Sensitizing farmer’s concept to increase crop productivity under changing climate” was organized under NICRA project by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre at ICAR, Kolasib from 6th to 8th February, 2019. Thirty farmers from different districts of Kolasib participate in the programme.
On the first day (6.2.19) Dr. Lungmuana, Scientist (Soil Science) welcomes the participants followed by technical session. Farmers were given lecture on resource conservation, soil and water conservation followed by visit to resource conservation demonstration farm where a thorough discussion was held. During the second day (7.2.19), topics covered were impact of climate changes on horticultural and its management by Dr. V. Dayal, Scientist (Horticulture), Climate change scenario in Kolasib and Mizoram and importance of water harvesting by Dr. Saurav Saha, Scientist (Agril. Physics), Impact of climate change on pest and diseases and its management by Dr. C. Lalfakawma, Scientist (Plant Pathology, KVK Kolasib) and Soil fertility and INM by Vanthawmliana, SRF, NICRA. On the third day (8.2.19) topics covered were impact of climate change on biodiversity by C. Zohmingsangi, PHD Scholar, MZU, Impact of climate change on piggery and poultry and its management by Dr. Lalhruaipuii, Scientist (Vety. Microbiology) and Climate change impact on fishery and its management by P.L. Lalrinsanga, Scientist (Aquaculture). The farmers were taken to Piggery and Poultry unit, fishery aquarium unit, vermicomposting and mushroom unit to demonstrate the various technologies to increase the income. Finally, feedback time was given to the farmers followed by a thorough discussion.
